Keep Portland Weird -- Don't Worry

First, to rectify a situation pointed out to me by Marissa and Martina over at Adventure's in Children's Publishing, let me once again thank everyone for the support and congratulations for NB's recent contest. And, speaking of contests (that's a segue, baby :), check out M&M's awesome one starting Thursday.

It's my day at the archives, but thought I'd share a couple random Portland pics, taken via cellphone:

Yep, that's a house in my driveway.

What every woman needs... a basket for her purse.

What's the strangest thing you've seen IRL?

  1. Nice pictures, but um... hello? Are you so modest you're not going to mention your WIN over at Nathan Bransford's blog??? We're elated for you and I've been waiting for you to mention it! Seeing that you're clearly too shy to do so, I'm saying it for you! Congrats!!!

  4. Yeah, I'm pretty stoked for your contest win. And I'm not sure I've ever used the word stoked before so I must be pretty excited.

Weirdest thing? The number of grown women taking their dogs for stroller rides in the mall in Southern California.

  5. Not exactly wierd, but funny. I was driving on the highway in a flat, open area somewhere out west. There was an overpass that was just... missing. The road ran up to the edge of the highway, and the posts were there to hold it up, but the bridge part was completely gone. No signs of construction underway, no nothing. Just gone.

I couldn't help thinking, "Captain, they've taken the bridge!"

  6. I live in the midwest. Nothing strange ever happens here.

Has Portland turned into Kansas? Why is there a house in your driveway? And more importantly, is there someone underneath it? :)

  7. Stephanie -- had to be little dogs, right? Something about that smog.

Christine -- that's way funny... Austin's like that... has a lot of fly overs that stop in mid-construction and look like they're never gonna finish.

Susan -- actually, there were a couple of people... cutting corners off with chainsaws to make sure it could fit down our tiny road :)

  8. Anubis is a great name...and your profile picture is adorable...my dog used to sit like that (a black half-bread, something between a German Shepperd and...a no-breed, probably!)...Now its too busy barking all day long...I miss those calm moments...it must be that it is getting old...

    Cheers!
